CNN主播(2012.5.1)：「導致薄熙來倒台的貪污和謀殺醜聞，也是在周永康任內發生。」

周永康是原政法委書記，胡錦濤時代手握全國維穩系統資源，被列為9位大陸國家領導人之一，政治地位在薄熙來之上，外界認為他是石油幫代表，家人在油田和房產方面控制龐大利益，最近中國石油集團陸續有高層落馬，查辦風向也指向周永康，他如果真被法辦，將是中共中央政治局常委第一人，捲起的政治風暴，甚至更勝薄熙來。
