義大利關閉新澤西州領事館

義大利決定明年3月關閉美國新澤西州領事館，原因是義大利經濟衰退、政府需錢及歐元區危機。義大利駐華府大使館發言人表示，閉館純粹是基於「行政和財政上的原因」，全球有13個義大利領事館要關，在美國只關設在新澤西州首府紐瓦克的領事館。新澤西州的義裔人口排全美第四、義大利移民全美第二，紐瓦克領事館每年處理1萬7000人的簽證、護照和其他文件，地方上的義大利裔已計畫組團在紐瓦克及華府抗議。
